Mrs. Kelicia Lockett, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Kelicia Lockett, a proud native of Prichard, Alabama (a small town in Mobile County), brings 13 years of educational experience grounded in her passion for student achievement, teacher growth, and educational equity. Her journey in education began through educating her own children as well as early experiences tutoring youth in her community, which inspired a lifelong commitment to transforming lives through teaching and leadership.
Before entering education, Mrs. Lockett honorably supported the U.S. military, completing two tours in Iraq and one in Kuwait. These experiences shaped her discipline, resilience, and dedication to service. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Secondary Education with an Emphasis in Mathematics, a Tier I Leadership Endorsement, and multiple Georgia certifications in Mathematics (6–12), Special Education (P–12), and Teacher Support & Coaching.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Lockett has served in many roles, to include mathematics teacher, instructional coach, magnet specialist, head cheerleading coach, football liaison, and dynamic school leader in Clayton and DeKalb County School Districts. As a Magnet Specialist, she led the entire magnet program and several initiatives focused on Project Based Learning (PBL), driving STEM integration at a STEM Cognia certified school. She also led professional development sessions at the district level, supporting teacher growth and instructional excellence across multiple schools. Most recently, as an educational leader for DCSD she provided instructional leadership across multiple departments, supported Title I initiatives, and contributed to measurable gains in student achievement. In addition, she serves as an adjunct college professor, teaching Precalculus, Algebra and Trigonometry.
Outside of education, Mrs. Lockett is a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and entrepreneur. She enjoys spending time with family, leading Bible studies, cooking, traveling, and mentoring others in their personal and professional journeys.
